Marine Corps Boot Camp is initial training program to join the United States Marine Corps. www.mcrdpi.usmc.mil is official website of MCRD Parris Island. Marine Corps Boot Camp Training is held at one of the two Marine Corps Recruit Depots (MCRD) like Parris Island, South Carolina or San Diego, California. After this training qualified young male and female sent to US Marines. Marine Corps Boot Camp Training Schedule is given below. Male recruits from the 8th, 9th and 12th recruiting districts (predominately, areas west of the Mississippi River) are sent to MCRD San Diego. Male recruits from 1st, 4th and 6th recruiting districts, as well as all female recruits are sent to Parris Island. Recruits have to attend training at Officer Candidates School in Marine Corps Base Quantico, Virginia to become officers.
Marine Corps Boot Camp Training is a physically and mentally testing event with food and sleep deprivation, uniformed services, often by citing that it is longer, more demanding Physical Fitness Test, strictest height and weight standards. MCRD Parris Island is unified team of Marines, Sailors, and civilians devoted to maintenance the legacy and operational relevance of the Corps by attracting qualified young men and women and changing them as mentally, physically and morally into U.S. Marines. Boot camp has 12 week phase of training, beginning with a receiving phase of in-processing or forming, followed by three numbered phases (stages). Each phase includes concentrative education and training on different topics essential for military life. Each phase consists of a fixed number of training days, these are counted in the training matrix as "T1", "T2", up to "T70" which is Graduation Day.
Marine Corps Boot Camp Recruit Training Schedule:
Processing: Recruits arrive on Parris Island get the Welcome Aboard speech, clothing and gear issue, medical screening, perform the Initial Strength Test, and are introduced to their drill instructors.
Weeks 1-3:
Recruits receive instruction on military history, customs and courtesies, basic first aid, uniforms, and leadership and core values.
Recruits learn hand-to-hand combat skills through the Marine Corps Martial Arts Program (MCMAP), which is made up of various martial arts styles.
Week 4:
Swim qualification
There are four levels of swim/water survival qualification in recruit training. The Marines are an amphibious service, and water survival training is designed to increase our competence and survivability in an amphibious environment.
Week 5:
Initial Written Testing and Initial Drill
Rappel Tower/Gas Chamber
Week 6:
Grass week (rifle range)
The recruits learn the fundamentals of
Marine Corps marksmanship, sight in on
the targets and learn how to make adjustments to the M16 A2 service rifle.
Week 7:
Firing week (rifle range)
The recruits have three days to practice the KD course of fire, a pre-qualification day and a qualification day, firing the M16 A2 service rifle.
Week 8:
Team week
The recruits will spend the week working in various areas of Parris Island , maintaining the appearance of the Depot, and practicing for Final Drill.
Week 9:
A-Line/Basic Warrior Training
The recruits will conduct various exercises to begin developing basic field and combat skills. Some of the events they will execute are:
Day Movement Course
Firing at multiple targets
Firing at targets from unknown distances
Combat Shooting (Table 2)
Combat Endurance Course
Week 10:
Practical Application Evaluation

Final drill:
Recruits and Drill Instructors are evaluated on their knowledge and application of Marine Corps drill and rifle manual.
Written testing: Recruits are evaluated on their knowledge of basic military education.

In the last week of Recruit Training is referred to as "Marine Week". This week includes the Battalion Commander's Inspection, Family Day, and Graduation. For the period of Marine week, Marines are trained in some of the recruit behaviors that are no longer appropriate as Marines like referring to self in the third person. Final photos are taken, a representative from the School of Infantry will conduct a brief, and travel arrangements are made for a ten day leave. In next morning, the fresh Marines form for their graduation ceremony, march across the parade deck, and are dismissed from recruit training by their senior drill instructors.
