Melody Thornton is an American singer, model, dancer, songwriter, and television personality. She was born in Phoenix, Arizona in September 28, 1984. She got her graduation degree in 2003 from Camelback High School in Phoenix, Arizona. When she sang at the school talent show "Without You," Mariah Carey's remake of Badfinger, her ability was first revealed. She was familiar as "the group's best vocalist," according to Slant Magazine.

Thornton was recruited in the Pussycat Dolls order to add singing power to the group in 2003. When she heard this group was auditioning for a new group member, she went to the audition and selected in December 2003. She is a salaried employee of Interscope Records compared to the other dolls. "Baby Doll" is the pet name of Melody Thornton in the group because she is the youngest of the group. In 2009, she declared during a performance that she typically introduces herself as "Baby Doll", but she desires the world to know her as "Melody".
Thornton started her solo career collaborating with rapper Jibbs on the song "Go Too Far" which is taken from Janet Jackson's song "Let's Wait a While." She inveterate in an interview at the Cabanna Club in Hollywood that she has been recording and writing songs for her alone efforts.
Vocal and dancing ability
Before auditioning for the group, Thornton had not received any formal vocal training. Despite her spoken talent Thornton is best identified for her melismatic vocal runs, ad-libs and falsetto registrated harmonies. Thornton also added prominent vocals many tracks mostly in the form of background melismas while Nicole Scherzinger contributed most of the group's lead vocals on the first album, PCD. When Carmit Bachar's exited from the group, Thornton performed "Fever" and "Hey Big Spender" alone in live recitals.
Currently, Thornton is recording her solo debut Hit The Ground Running album, to be released in the near future. It was stated in June 2010 that Thornton's collaborators for her solo album will include Cee-Lo, Polow Da Don, and Lil Wayne.
